Giving Birth to an Angel: Tharaa Olivia

My lil Angel was born! One of the happiest days in our lives when our baby girl was born healthy and so lovely -- like an angel..

This is off topic on this blog, but I'm a #proudmama :) So let me share details to you. This will be a loongg post..

I gave birth to our beautiful angel last Nov. 21 in Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC), where Jacob, too, was born last 2009 (I'll try to recall and post details re: Jacob's in AHMC).

Pre-delivery:
I was admitted a day before. Since we already knew the procedures in AHMC, we (me and my hubby) decided to check in late, around 4-5pm. We dropped by first at Festival Mall to buy stuffs and foods for him and my yaya, and for guests (who will visit me and Tharaa). As soon as were done with our small shopping, we headed straight to AHMC.
From our experience, all staffs of AHMC were very accommodating and pleasant. We walked directly to Admitting Section located on Ground Floor, and they immediately processed my paper. Unfortunately, only the Executive Private Room is available - we have no choice but accept it (since I'm already on schedule for CS operation the next day). They were kind enough to lower the price of the room per day (from P5000+  to P4750. We tried looking for option - they put me on waiting list in case a patient from Standard Private Room will be discharged the next day (too bad, the patient left on the last day of my stay in the hospital, so we decided not to transfer anymore)

Party Preps: Superhero Party

This is just a sample table centerpiece we made for Jacob Marthy's upcoming Superhero Party (and mind you, it's overseas!).
We always try to make it unique for every party we prepare for each client. And Jacob Marthy is special to us, too! (Aside from the fact my son and him carries both first name (lol))

Do you like it?

Blogging on bed: Baptism of a lil' Angel

Anytime now i'm due giving birth to my lil' angel, Tharaa Olivia..

While killing time (and resting) i'm still on my phone searching and looking for pegs and ideas for her upcoming baptism.
Maybe in a month or two, we will be throwing out and celebrating this special moment of her life -- and welcoming her to the Christian World.
Since, she will be baptize in our province, still, resources for a themed event is quite limited. Unless, I would do all the details my way..

Now my mind is fixed with her 1st special day -- what theme it would be? Hmmm..
Will post details soon! I'll keep you updated for sure..

Cheers!

Party: Janine's 7th Rockstar Themed Party

It's a suppperrr overdue post of my friend, Jeanjenzel's daughter, Janine, (she may be turning 8 anytime now, lol)

Janine was the first-born of our friend, and first from our barkada. Everyone's excited to prepare for this party. However, weeks and months before the party, I, too, became too busy with work and business. Good thing, her mom is super hands-on with party, that she did follow every ideas we gave to her for the said event, with her own twist of course!

The theme was set to Rock! It's A Rockstar themed Party for Janine's 7th Birthday..
With color theme of: hot pink, black, and blue, and zebra print!

I don't have much idea on all the details for this party (pardon me!) But i'll try to give you insights regarding the theme and how it was executed beautifully.
I know everyone's raving about this party (it's quite new in the province so everyone's talking about the party [even days after, lol])

Here's the stage decor:
(all photos courtesy of my friend's fb page)

Originally, we wanted a styro backdrop, but with limited resources we have in the province, my friend, decided to use tarpaulin (we told her to do an ocular visit at the venue and measure everything!)

The letter cutouts were made of styro (credit to who made it!) following the color pegs given.
Janine loves Bratz  - that was added too!
Balloons were from Divilandia :)

Peg: Red and Turquiose Baptismal Theme

I'm due to "pop" anytime now! But what I'm really looking forward to (aside from seeing our lil' angel Tharaa) is her Baptism!
I know! I'm so excited to prepare for her christening that I'm now gathering ideas for the event. I have two (2) themes in mind. Please help me choose which!

On this topic, it's all about color themed event! - Red and Turquiose Party

It looks like it's more of a wedding theme, but really, when I saw this post on Hostess with Mostess blog, I fell in love with the color combination and details.

Hostess with Mostess blog post - here

If I came to decision to choose this theme, definitely the polkadots will be part of the whole theme, too!

For the cake, I love their fondant cake! However, i'll opt for a marshmallow icing than this..
Fondant looks good, but, I want to eat the cake!

To Make it more look like of the baptismal cake, the ribbon will not be part and will be replaced with small flowers, definitely it's white too!

I'll have our staff/team to make me this kind of cake tray..

More pegs below. (I'm loo lazy to update my Pinterest, lol)

Concept to Reality

I love when I see post like this from Party Planners (or when they share their pegs to us). It shows how clever they are conceptualizing themes and every inch of detail for a certain party.

Below is from Spark + Twinkle of Kathleen dela Merced (posted from their facebook page).
I wish I could share more pegs here but I can't (to avoid copycat :)

This is such a classic, yet very elegant party theme for a 1 year old Girl!

Instagram: Client Meeting w/ Ms. Chesca Kramer

I've always been a fan of her.. I love how she dressed up and her angelic face. Luckily, I got a chance to meet her and her family last weekend for some client talk for Scarlett's Upcoming 1st Birthday party by Dec.

We had a small chat for the party, her plans to order things for the kids' rooms, etc.
And by that night, she shared photos of the kids with the celebrant's chair I specifically made for them (Kendra and Scarlett). Yay!

Kendra and Scarlett with their chairs!
I'll post details soon for the upcoming event!

Be Inspired: Sweet Showers Party by Alice's Wonderland

When Ms. Bambi of Alice's Wonderland contacted me to make 3 Huge Letter Standees made of wood for her upcoming event, I got excited!

I thought these standees would be part of the entrance decor or the main stage (as it's the usual location where these standees are placed in an event). But when I saw her post after the party on her facebook page, I was so amazed with her creativity!
See below for photos: c/o Alice's Wonderland

And the theme: It's so unique!
I fell in love with blue boots decor on the dessert table (where the huge standees S & E where placed - it's around 4ft in height!)  and the inverted umbrella that served as flower pot! Amazing!

Lovely Party! Whatcha think?

Cheers!!

Party Preps: Looking for Party Venue?

When  preparing for a party, (IMHO), this is the first thing you/we need to accomplish, finalize and settle above anything else. Though I know, during this time, you have already a theme (may be themes) in mind for your event. It's better if you have a clearer picture of how you visualize your party because it will help you deciding which venue suits your theme.

Anyways, I'd like to share to you what are the criteria I have when preparing our own party.

1. I ask myself first, how many guests (a rough estimate) will attend our party? I even ask my husband regarding this!

2. If we have a rough estimate, I ask myself and him our budget for the venue.
(In our case with Jacob's 1st Birthday - he gave me the total budget he will give me for the party (excluding my personal expense for whatever "arte" I wanted :)). I set aside around 10k-15k for the venue, however, I find out while searching the web about Prestige Tower (some details here) - that they will cover the venue in exchange of availing their minimum amount for catering catering service, isn't it a great deal? So, the budget I alloted for the party turned out to be part of other thing s I wanted for Jacob's party. )

3. If you have lots of options for venues, sub-classify it to:
             a.  accessibility - from where all/most of your guests will be coming from?
             b. will there be a public transport in case some of the guest do not have a private vehicle?
          c. time and date of your party (IMHO, I think, as a DIY Party Planner, you should stick as much as possible to the time and date you wanted).

Personal kwento: With Jacob's 1st birthday party (again), I wanted it to be on Saturday, but since I really wanted Prestige Tower (considering above criteria) I settle for Sunday but on the time I wanted (which was 4-7pm). Luckily, I reserved/booked the venue ahead (5-6 months before the event date). Always ask for a clear contract copy (read and read and read.. then ask ask ask [if you have any concern]). Do not hesitate to ask and tell them what you really wanted for the party.

4. If you have time, do an Ocular Inspection. But before that, make a list of questions and details of your party. You don't want to miss anything for your party, right? I always do this!

5. If you are already satisfied and final with the venue, settle the reservation fee.

6. A week or 2 weeks before the event, remind them about your party. Also, if you have a ny revisions, additional requirements, advise them ahead.. If you're only communicating through phone, do not forget to ask who are you talking to (in case a problem may arise) and note it.

Will try to come up with a List of Party Venues that will surely help you preparing for your own event.

Cheers!

Post-Party: Jacob's 3rd Birthday Loots and Giveaways

I'm caught up with load of works for the past few days and week, pardon me for giving you partial details of what we had last Jacob's 3rd Birthday Bash..

Anyways, starting with the entrance loots..

These loots are provided upon entry to the venue. I personally asked Shakey's staffs to set me up a separate table for this.
I posted previously how I visually wanted it.. Though didn't achieved the exact peg due to time constraint, still I'm happy --- it's still an A++ (for me! well biased!) for super AAA--eeffort.. :)

Review: Limphots Photography

Since Jakey's 3rd birthday party isn't as grand as the first 2 parties we had (1st Birthday and 2nd birthday), I was looking for a cheaper yet somewhat could meet my expectations.

I dont want to reply with guests and friends' camera for photos, I really allot budget for Photo Coverage. Luckily, I saw Limphots photos from previous events in SP Forum. (I later find out it was owned by one of SP Moms!)
So, I sent PM to them inquiring for Jacob's party and if they are still free on said date. And luckily, they were! They even know me (I think, since I'm a SP Mom, too) and didn't asked for downpayment.

Service fee: P2500 plus Transportation charge (I gave P3000 during our event)

I love their shots! He's so into taking photos of every guests and never gets tired running and following Jacob around the party area!
All decors and details I prepared had photos, too!
And most of all, I'm really impressed, the next day, I get to view most of the party pics on their Facebook page!

Rating: 4.5/5(There's always room for improvement, but really, they're impressive!)

Here are some shots from Limphots for Jacob's 3rd Birthday Party!

Review: Jacob's Party - Shakey's Shopwise Sucat

OVERALL RATING:4/5

For Jacob’s 3rd Birthday Party, we decided to avail Shakey’s Party Package. SP Forum helped me in preparing and deciding where to celebrate a simpler party for my Jakey.

Since Shakey’s Shopwise Sucat is the most convenient location for most of our guests, I asked my husband to inquire first thru phone regarding details of the party. They only require P1000 for reservation/blocking of time and date and settlement of half 1-2 weeks before the event.(We settled 90% of the total amount 2 weeks before the event). They gave Official Receipt (always ask, in case problem may arise).

Time of the Party: 3-5 o'clock in the afternoon

I called up hours before the party to advise them I'll be dropping by some of the prizes, loots and table centerpieces for the party (which I prepared at home and ahead of time). They were very attentive (naman) when I came, and temporarily store the items on the 2nd floor and locked it.

Since our party will start by 3pm, we arrive ahead of time, around 2:20-2:30 pm to prepare the things needed for party. Unfortunately, the 1st party (though theirs was already done) haven't left the venue yet! Ugghh.. They just left when we (me and my relatives went it to prepare the things).
This problem was common for party with only an hour allowance for egress.
So, when you book with them, be clear on what you really wanted regarding this matter. Jacob's party started around 3:30 pm (30minutes late) and most of our guests were already inside waiting for the program.

Setup: Table Centerpiece

I saw this when Ms. Kathleen of Spark + Twinkle tagged me her photo from her last event.
I'm so impressed with this setup -- I thought those step stools she asked me were to given as gifts!

And when I visit her Facebook page, she has this "Concept to Reality" album which features those ideas she has in mind while prepping for the party and the actual photo from the party itself! See for yourself -- Impressive, ayt?

Be Inspired: Huge Letter Backdrop for your Party

First of all, I'd like to thank Ms. Bambi Hernandez's of Alice's Wonderland for making us part of this party for her client.
Her facebook page: click here

When Ms. Bambi asked me to make a huge letter standees made from wood for her event, I was kinda hesitant at first - it's so huge and I worried (during those times) how we could deliver the items to her place.

And when I saw these letters, I thought it's for a wedding! and will be placed outside the venue as entrance decor..

But when she posted the photos after the event on her Facebook page.... I was really amazed with the creativity Ms. Bambi has! Even the hanging umbrellas that served as flower pots --- so clever!!
Anyways, I would like to share some photos (which I grabbed from her page.. credits to her)..

Be Inspired!

Cheers,

Grace

Parties I love: ALL things GIRLY + Model Inspired 4th Birthday Party

I Love this girly concept for a lil girl's party!
I saw this from Kara's Party Ideas and I'd love to do this theme for my baby girl when she's already a toddler. I love the simplicity yet elegant styling of this party!

Here's how the party stylist setup this special party for this lucky lil lady. I just love it!''

This ALL THINGS GIRLY + MODEL INSPIRED 4TH BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Lizelle De Kock of Organizit Party Styling (South Africa)! First things first, how adorable are the silhouette backdrops on the main dessert table… This party is so so darling!
Lizelle said- “Specially for a little lady turning four. This party was everything a little lady girl wanted..pink…some more pink…a crown…high heel cupcakes…edible jewelery and sweets for the entire modeling community! The silhouette background display was perfect to portray little Megan’s love for modeling. Tiny suitcases were on display filled with musk sweets, packed and ready to go to the fashion show!”

Party Preps: Entrance Table

For Jacob's 3rd party, since Shakey's only allows 2-hour party, we decided not to setup candy station/dessert station.
So, instead of setting up candy Station, I came up with an idea wherein all guests would still enjoy and take home party favors like chocolates, candies and or lollipops (even if they won't participate on the games prepared by the host). I ask our staffs to make penholders (box type) for Jacob's party -- well, it's still Justice League theme/design.

Below is the peg I'm planning to do and follow for the party. I already informed Shakey's staff regarding this table.

Party Preps: Loot Prizes

Giveaways and Prizes for Jacob's Party are always BIG THING to me -- I always try to find time to personalize it or put my own touch especially with our party themes!
I thought it would be easier for me to find Justice League themed items and prizes in Divilandia - but I was ssooo wrong! So, genetic designed items are always big catch to me -- It's just that it requires a lot of effort to make these prizes and loots special.

Here's a photo of from my Instagram account (IG: SASHABELLE_GARCIA) of what I did on ,y 1st night doing Jacob's Party Prizes.

Since I'm on a budget (well, I don't know how much budget! haha) I used the black ribbon from Jacob's Last Backyardigans Pirate Party (it's a left over!)

Whatcha think, guys?

Cheers!

PARTY PREPS: Invitations and Party Printables

Since we’re only planning for a simpler 3rd birthday party for Jacob, I decided to make a simple Justice League Invitation (which won’t be printed) and only be posted in my personal account in Fb page ( it’s only a simple party in a restaurant with approx 60-70 guests).

I got the template from “Mr. Google” J and look up for captions on the web that’s related to our theme – Superhero Party!

INVITATION:

Size: 5x7 inches
Program used: I’m fond of playing/using MS Publisher for editing, doing layouts, etc (I’m not good with Adobe L)
Fonts used (for party details):   EA FONT (this is the closest font I could find only for Justice League) and Breezed Caps (for FLASH)

Party Preps: Shakey's Party Package

Since now I'm still on party planning stage, I cannot post anything regarding feedback or reviews for the party. However, I hope this will help you in choosing venue, queries you may ask regarding the package you are availing.

We (me and my husband) dropped to Shakey's Shopwise Sucat last weekend to clear things up regarding Jacob's upcoming party. We already made a reservation on time and date (they just required P1000 for this).

Party Prep: Jacob's 3rd Birthday Bash

It's been a while since I post something new here. And now I'm back planning my son's 3rd birthday party!
I thought we wouldn't give him a party since it's his 3rd and we're saving for my next baby (pregnancy, etc)... But first born, first grandson will always gets the best of everything.. So here we are again.. and too bad, I'm cramming!

With more than a month of preparation (unlike Jacob's 1st and 2nd Birthday Bash), it feels like i'm running out of time! Anyways, here are some of the updates on Jakey's Superhero Party

Crown Centerpiece

I'm a huge s*cker for Huge Centerpiece, after I saw this concept from one of our client's party.
See details here

The same client, ordered and custom-made this centerpiece for her friend's daughter.

Be Inspired: A Garden Themed Party

I'm opting to have this theme for baptism (if in case, I'll have a baby girl soon!). It's so cute yet refreshing!
And I'm sharing you the pegs, design I might use for this theme! Hope this will help you if you like this theme too!

I'm a sucker for beautiful table centerpieces. Aside from the stage decor, this would be the next thing on my mind when I do party planning. Why? This is the most noticed accent/decor of all - your guests will surely look into it - bit by bit while they''re waiting or killing time.

So as for the centerpiece.
A nice wooden pushcart would be fine for me. Will add up some fresh plants and flowers.

Pegs below:

Jacob's Pirate Costume

With Jacob's 2nd Backyardigans Pirate Party - we prepared 2 costumes for him to wear. - Party details here

A  Pablo costume (Backyardigans character) - this is the  fave character of Jacob from the show. Gladly, my Ate San volunteered to buy this costume from Party City and have it ship it time for party. But, when Jacob saw the costume, he doesn't want it wear it! Could you feel the frustation I felt during those times!

But my mom is really a life-saver! She asked me to look for a peg for a costume and will try our luck with her friend, a local dressmaker (who made Jacob's costume - Peter Pan). So I tried to look online for sample designs that she could copy.

Here's the peg I want her to copy:

How to Series: Candy Dessert Station from Scratch

I have lots of queries thru my private Fb account how did I made Jacob's Candy Station for his last 2 birthdays.
The trays and candy boxes - I'll share the details where and what are the materials you could use.
Hope this be great help to you in party planning!

I'm not into glasses and clear containers now - maybe because, my kid is a boy and won't fit the party theme. And, I'm scared of breakage and what might happen during the party! So plastics are ok for me.

For the Sesame Street "Mr. Hooper's Candy Station"
(note: Mr. Hooper owns the store in Sesame Street)

Colorful trays:
These trays were from a local thrift store ( I think I bought these in Laguna). You may also find thse in department stores in the metro. I just availed of the colors that fit the theme(orange, yellow and green).
For the bases, I used plastic cups and and gluestick. Just make sure it was place at the center of plates for balance.
For aesthetic purpose only, I put extra Elmo stuff on top of the tray and letter cutout that spells JACOB. Used gluestick, too.

How to Series: Invites using MS Publisher

I'm not really a techie person, but I love to work around to things I have with me.
And MS Publisher is the best program for me -- why? I make all my invoices, cards and even layouts here. So, I'll share with you some tips  using MS Publisher and what are the final products I came up using this program.

Hope you enjoy it!

First, you need to have the program on your lappy (of course!) Hehe..
Second, you should have an idea how your project would look like.
With Jacob's 1st Birthday Invites - Originally, it was planned as a Sesame Street Live! Birthday party, but due to limited resources (for the party planner - my bad, I advised her late too that I specifically wanted this) I still made this part of his party a Sesame Street Live Theme
(note: Sesame Street Live is a concert) .
Since concert use poster, I made a poster-type invites for Jacob's 1st.

Sesame Street Invitation

A Fancy Nancy Birthday Party

I always dream of having a "girly-girly" party. Hopefully, with my 2nd baby it will come true.. :)
I have only 2 options for the party theme:
One, is Alice in a Wonderland Whimsical Party (details and ideas will be posted soon), and,
Two, is a Fancy Nancy Party!

I'm not really about Fancy Nancy, but when a client of mine asked me to do some details for her upcoming party, I got sooo interested and hook with this theme, and would like to share some small details of the party that happened.
Hope you like it!

The table centerpiece:
It's a huge table centerpiece for  a party, ryt? But, all of her parties are unique so why not?
We made a fancy nancy centerpiece without the dress.. and they ask their own dressmaker to make Nancy's own tutu dress (photo below is just the idea how it look like). Clever isn't it?

65th Birthday Party

This is a repost from my original blog - addicted2jakey

Indeed! T'was a successful one! Kudos to my Sister-in-Law and friends for pulling this party off - Up to the last minute, my MIL didn't have any idea what was going on!
I'm a few days delayed in posting details on this party.. But, still it's worth sharing to the world.
Theme: Sunflower "Burst of Sunshine" 65th Birthday Party
For: my Mom-in-Law
By: Siblings Jojo (my husband) and Hannah (sister-in-law) together with the efforts if their friends, families and relatives.
Where: David's Tea House, The Wharf @ Lakefront Sucat
When: 09 April 2011- 5-9pm

It's quite a long story..
From previous blog, I already posted that we (specifically, Me) Jojo and Me are in-charge with the party giveaways and table centerpiece since it's a business of ours.
Table Centerpiece
I'm really having hard time choosing for the appropriate centerpiece for this party. I even planned doing a DIY of paper flowers - but, since I was kinda busy with my work and our business - I do not have that much time (as I had with Jacob's Party) to do such things. So, instead, I just asked my husband to drive me to Bay, Laguna for some plant tripping. And this only happened, hours away from the party!
I just prepared the basket for the centerpiece. At first, I was looking for flower-bearing plants but ended up with Cacti-looking plant. They just covered the black plastic with white paper for a more nice-looking table centerpiece.

A Shabby-Chic Birthday Party

Thanks for the feature! Fun Ideas below.. Enjoy!

A Shabby-Chic Twin Birthday Party (July 30, 2011)

Twins are double the fun and double the joy!
Sabrina and Samantha celebrated their 2nd Birthday in Shabby-Chic style, which the mom wanted to achieve by bringing a dose of the outdoor gardens in.  We transformed a penthouse residence into a land of floral prints, inspired by Rachel Ashwell’s world of “perfect imperfections.”
Mixed floral patterns for the linens, and brown garden parasols decorated with white lanterns flanked Sab & Sam’s dessert table.  White glass lanterns with flowers inside were the centerpieces for the tables.
Photos of the twins (taken by Karen Ilagan) were displayed on the tables together with fun facts about them.

Hello Kitty Picnic 1st Birthday (October 9, 2010)

MEOW!
The classic red and blue Hello Kitty was the theme for baby girl Olivia’s 1st birthday.  Her mom picked that theme since she said Olivia looked like Hello Kitty whenever she would smile, and I had to agree with her after meeting the sweet angel!
The old-school illustrations of this popular Sanrio character were refreshing to see again, especially nowadays when Hello Kitty seems to have shed the reds and the blues, and donned everything pink in its myriad shades.
Come and see how Hello Kitty brought Olivia and her guests to a “happy picnic land” for a fun birthday afternoon :)
Red and white checkered table linens really “picni-fied” the space.  The white foldable garden chairs added so much appeal too.
See the kiddie stools below which were the party giveaways for the kids featuring Hello Kitty and her cute boyfriend :) I love the bow-tie detail! So adorable.
We also gave out picnic baskets to the kiddies with bottled water, milk, cookies, and a red apple.

Smurfs in Candyland Birthday Party

This was 2nd birthday of Jacob Marthy (Ms Mae's son - remember, Vintage Circus Party?)
I only have time now to post some details I knew from this party (with Ms Mae's permissions, of course).

Enjoy reading!

Jacob Marthy turns 2! Time flies sooo fast.. Last thing I remembered was his mom (Ms Mae) preparing for Jacob marthy's 1st birthday in Manila, and now in Kuwait!
Having less more time preparing and conceptualizing the party - we end up and agreed on "Smurfs in Candyland party" (She was torn between the two - so I suggested why not combine both themes :) clever uh? :)

Anyways, I knew less of the details - but I'll to give you details, ideas we had while preparing for the party.. And mind you, preparing for a party abroad -- it's really nth time harder than having it here in Manila.

She is an SP Mom too! I heard some good feedbacks and she quote way cheaper for decors, so I made an attempt to suggest her to Ms Mae.
I don't know much of the details they had for this event - but here are some photos :)
